AtayaCaffe (Berlin)

I didn't really know what to expect when I heard about an African-Italian fully vegan cafe since I never heard about a mix between an Italian and African cuisine but I was definitely interested and was eager to try that place for a while. I was NOT disappointed.


The first thing you will notice when you go to AtayaCaffe is the fact that this place looks more like someone's house or cosy living room rather then a fully functioning restaurant, and that is exactly what the couple behind AtayaCaffe wants you to experience.


I kicked off with a great plate of hummus and fresh Pita bread which is a great way to start every meal for an Israeli like me and probably most of you as well, since who doesn't like hummus?


As a main, I had the African "Jollof bowl", which is a big and beautiful plate with a lot of fresh veggies, Jollof rice (African style rice with tomato sauce) and fried plantains that are served with a spicy African dip that adds a lot to the flavours party.

I thought I was full but then the cake came.

The cake is a raw strawberry cake, sugar-free, organic and most important - very delicious!

The vegan buffet takes place on Sundays and includes a selection of over 25 different dishes(!) and tapas breakfast takes place on Saturdays as well as a daily lunch.
